Learn from the Experts

Dr Ozan Amir, Podiatric Surgeon.

Ozan Amir obtained his undergraduate podiatry degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 1994 and completed his Master of Podiatry from Curtin University in 2004. He has since worked in private practice in both Canberra and Sydney.

Ozan completed his surgical training with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons, with additional clinical and surgical training based in the United Kingdom and the United States.  He completed his United Kingdom preceptorship within the Orthopaedic department of the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, where he focused on forefoot and diabetic high risk foot surgery.  He also completed 3 months surgical training at the prestigious Podiatry Institute, Atlanta, Georgia.

Ozan is a sessional lecturer at the Central Queensland University, School of Podiatry, and has been active within the NSW Podiatry community, being part of many workshops, continuing education lectures, and conference presentations.

 

Ben Sibley, Podiatrist

Benjamin Sibley is a podiatrist with 30 years of clinical experience, mostly in private practice.

Ben's prolotherapy journey began in 2005, and was further developed in 2017 when he completed the Margaret Taylor course in Adelaide, which re-ignited his podiatry career.

Since then, Ben has attended numerous courses in prolotherapy, and includes it as a large part of his clinical practice. He is a practical podiatrist, with a passion for helping his patients get out of pain.

The Program

8.00 am - Registration, tea & coffee

8.30 am - Session One with Josh and Oz

  • Overview and summary, including scope of practice and legal considerations
  • Local anaesthesia update; substance and dosage considerations
  • Needle-free injections
  • Using local anaesthetic to aid diagnosis
  • Therapeutic use of local anaesthetic
  • Injectable corticosteroids - suitable conditions, when and how to refer

10.00 - Morning tea (provided)

10.20 am - Session two with Ben

  • Prolotherapy - all you need to know, including lots of demonstrations
  • How to use ultrasound for accurate needle placement

12.15 pm - Lunch (provided)

1.00 pm - Session three with Josh, Oz and Ben

  • Detailed demonstrations and guided practice
  • Case studies; sinus tarsi, 1st MTP joint pain/OA, plantar heel pain, intermetatarsal neuroma

3.15 pm - Afternoon tea

3.30 pm - Session four with Josh, Oz and Ben

  • Debrief, discussion, questions and answers
